Marcus is a licensed, professional civil engineer in North Carolina and Texas, with more than 20 years of experience in land development, public utilities, pollution clean-up, and regulatory compliance. Marcus has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Marcus has studied and practiced a variety of home building techniques including straw bale construction and timber framing. He also designed and built his own tiny house using green building methods and has renovated three other homes. Marcus also worked as a municipal building inspector and understands the building permit process and nuance involved in interpreting regulations.
Marcus has always appreciated architecture and design, and enjoys the aspects of the tiny house movement (and his own design and building) that captures the imagination.
Married and living in a small house in West Asheville, Marcus and his wife enjoy spending their free time hiking, biking, and gardening.
